Silver Cleaner
A great non-toxic silver cleaner can be made at home with
just hot water, salt and baking soda. Line the bottom of a glass baking
dish with aluminum foil and fill it with hot water. Add salt and baking
soda (about a teaspoon of each).
Drop your items into the silver cleaner, be it jewelry or cutlery. Heavily
tarnished items might need as many as five minutes of soaking but you
will be able to see the tarnish lifting – so just remove the items
when they are clean.
After the pieces come out of the silver cleaner, gently buff them with
a soft cloth. You can buy towels that are “designed” to
buff silver or jewelry in general. There are other ways to polish silver
or remove tarnish – this is just one of many.
